Malcom was born on December 8, 1952 in Austin , Texas to Herbert and Marie Feistel. Malcom grew up with some exposure to Christianity, but never made a commitment to God. After graduation from high school while serving in the US Air Force, he was saved through the ministry of the South Dade Baptist Church , Homestead, Florida.

Carol was born on December 23, 1951 in Jacksonville Florida to Bill and Doris Askew. She was saved at a young age and surrendered to be a missionary in her teens. In 1973 Malcom and Carol were married in Taipei , Taiwan where Malcom was stationed at the time. They were later transferred to Lubbock , Texas and it was at the 25th Street Baptist Church that they surrendered to return to Taiwan as missionaries.

Both Malcom and Carol are graduates of Baptist Bible College . Malcom later received his MA in Missions from Columbia Biblical Seminary and School of Missions . They were approved and sent out as Baptist Bible Fellowship missionaries from Noble Hill Baptist Church, Springfield , MO in 1979. Malcom and Carol have five children and five grandchildren.
