Our Testimonies

Dan: I was saved at the age of four at home where my parents frequently invited missionaries to visit and passed on to me their heart for missions. I attended a Christian college where I enjoyed the opportunities offered in weekly Christian service activities and the campus Mission Prayer Band. While in college, I also had the privilege of attending BIMI's Camp BIMI, a missions institute taught by veteran missionaries. It was here that the Lord gave me a desire to reach those that have never heard the gospel. After graduating with a degree in Public Relations and a minor in Missions, the Lord opened the door for me to come to Trinity Baptist Church in Oxford, Alabama. Under the direction of my pastor, Dr. C. O. Grinstead, I was able to apply my college training to ministry at the church by teaching in our Christian school, speaking in church and school services and working in AWANA. I was also responsible for technical aspects of our church's radio ministry: two FM stations reaching 24 counties with the Gospel. This is what God used to show me the unparalleled opportunity of bringing the gospel to the lost through Christian radio.

Amie: I received the Lord as my Savior at the age of eight. The Lord used several missions trips during my high school years to expose me to missions and worldwide evangelization. As a nursing major at a Christian college, the Lord showed me how I could use my medical training as a tool to make a difference, not just physically through healthcare, but also spiritually through the gospel. During my junior year I realized the Lord wanted me to serve Him in full-time medical missions. After graduation in May of 1999, I took a short-term missions trip to Togo, West Africa, where I assisted in a mission hospital. The Lord used this time to give me a burden for the African people. Since that time, I have earned my license as a registered nurse and worked as charge nurse in two local hospitals. This has allowed me not only to expand my medical skills and experience, but also to share the hope of eternal life with those suffering from physical needs.

Our Goals

Our ministry will be based in the city of Soroti, in northeast Uganda, where BIMI missionaries have established the Independent Baptist Church of Soroti. Through this local church ministry, we will be working with veteran missionaries to reach the 60,000 people in the city. Surrounding the city are 4 million Ugandans who, like the rest of the country, are plagued with poor health conditions. Two-thirds of the country is infected with AIDS. Amie's experience as a registered nurse will allow us to reach many of these people, not only with medication that can bring physical healing, but as people come for medical treatment, we will also have a compassionate relationship with them to be able to share the Gospel that will bring spiritual healing.

Most of the nearly 25 million people in Uganda live in remote villages, many without any roads other than foot paths leading to them. To reach the villages that we cannot find, we will also be working to maintain Christian radio stations throughout the country. Half of the population owns a radio, and the other half knows someone who does. In remote, secluded villages, radio is the only means of news and information. Christian radio will allow these unreached people to hear the Good News before it is eternally too late. As groups of believers form in various villages around the city of Soroti, we will work with the church's Men's Bible Institute and Ladies Bible Studies to train men and their wives to go back into these villages and establish indigenous, Bible-believing churches.
